It is not billionaire capitalism or corporate philanthropy or an army of NGOs or offshore oil reserves that keeps Norway at the top of the Human Development Index year after year while providing a glorious per capita income, high quality of life and free education and medical care to its citizens. "Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions" (Landsorganisasjonen - LO Norway) which has a membership of almost 1 million in a country of 5 million population - practically 1 member per household ! And I cannot but help thinking .... what are we doing with our mass organizations? CITU itself has about 5 million (same as the whole population of Norway). We have red armies in the barracks waiting for an upgrade.

Local Norwegians have joined an Australian group of Indigenous and environmental activists who flew to Norway’s capital Oslo on the 12th May to protest at Equinox's annual general meeting. Norwegians and Australians alike took to the seas in protest afterward, in a paddle out which proved to be the Norwegian I was going to do that but then you told me to sweater largest Oslo had seen – despite the water only being 8 degrees C! This dedication demonstrates Norwegians are ready to fight against Equinox to maintain our pristine bight as much as Australians are.
